Lives and works in Wairarapa, New Zealand
Luke Greenfield is a self-taught artist whose practice has evolved from sculptural work in wood to a current focus on painting. His work is informed by long-standing observations of animals and the natural environment, with an emphasis on form, presence, and material sensitivity.
Greenfield’s earlier sculptural works were carved directly from timber using hand tools and chainsaws, before being refined through surface treatment and paint. This physical engagement with material continues to inform his painted work, where structure, restraint, and surface remain central concerns.
He is currently developing a body of painted works for exhibition.
